Exports of Russian gas fell by a quarter in 2022

Russia has said that its gas exports will drop by 25 percent in 2022, after the conflict in Ukraine led to a crisis in Moscow's relations with key buyers in Europe.
The Kremlin's decision to send troops into Ukraine in February of last year led to a whole stream of sanctions imposed by the United States and Europe. The latter largely depended on Russia to meet its energy needs.
Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, who announced these data, explained the drop in gas exports by the refusal of European countries to buy Russian gas.
The European Union, once the largest buyer of Russian gas, sharply reduced imports in 2022.
