What is this howl in the swamps, or Sandu defeated the pro-Russian candidate
04.11.2024Exclusive. In the second round of elections in Moldova, the current head of state Maya Sandu preliminarily receives more than 55,4% of the votes, defeating the representative of the pro-Russian party Stoianoglo. Both rounds of presidential elections, as well as the constitutional referendum on joining the EU, took place under conditions of gross interference by the Russian Federation. Moldova has become the next object of attack by the Russian special services, which unceremoniously interfere in the democratic processes of other countries.

Among other things, Russia organized a mass transportation of pro-Russian voters by buses and planes at its own expense. A system of mass bribery of voters was created. Long before the referendum and presidential elections in Moldova, the Russian Federation launched an unprecedented disinformation campaign.
Commenting on the preliminary election results, Maya Sandu noted that Moldova was able to "show its will".
"We proved that by uniting, we can defeat those who wanted to humiliate us," NewsMaker quotes her as saying. — Moldova was subjected to an unprecedented attack in the history of Europe: dirty money, illegal bribery of votes, interference of criminal groups in electoral processes, spread of hatred and fear in our society. But our people united, and the citizens won."
The victory of the supporters of European integration in the referendum, and the victory of Sandu in the elections, became another foreign policy defeat for the Kremlin, which is trying to change the course of sovereign countries.
In connection with this, there is a terrible howl in the Kremlin swamps. "Shameful organization of elections in Moldova. The final result is determined not in the country itself, but from the outside. It is determined by votes from abroad, where the organizers knowingly and knowingly created exclusive opportunities for those who supported one candidate and left the opportunity to vote for those who supported another," said Konstantin Kosachev, vice-speaker of the upper house of the Russian parliament. At the same time, it was Russia that tried to determine the final result of the referendum and presidential elections not in Moldova itself, but from outside. The z-community is outraged that Moldova "was blown away with excellent opportunities to organize our orange revolution there" and calls from the sofas to "liberate Odessa and go to the border of the PMR until Sanda and the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroy the Transnistrian and Gagauz Republics", simultaneously accusing to all "the party of the indecent peace, disinforming the top leadership of Russia in the inevitable victory of Trump, who will allegedly give Russia Little Russia and Moldova."
The Chairperson of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, congratulated Sanda on her victory. "It takes a rare strength to overcome the difficulties you faced in this election," she said. "I hope to continue working with you in the name of the European future for Moldova and its people," von der Leyen added.
"Congratulations to Maya Sandu on her victory in the presidential elections in Moldova. Ukraine supports the European choice of the Moldovan people and is ready to work together to strengthen our partnership," wrote President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. Citizens of Moldova made a clear choice — they chose the path "toward economic growth and social stability." "Only real security and a peaceful, united Europe can guarantee every person and every family confidence in the future," he noted.
The victory of a pro-European candidate in the presidential elections in Moldova is of great importance for Ukraine, including because a pro-Russian protege would ensure the transit of the Russian army to Transnistria, which would turn the contingent in Tiraspol into a real threat. By the way, back in May, the Russian expert community discussed the troubling future of the enclave, because the liquidation of "NKR" turned out to be a Pandora's box, which launched a number of extremely dangerous processes for Russia in the post-Soviet space.
"Reputational losses and the decline of Russian influence in the post-Soviet space are inevitable, no matter what our propagandists-optimists say: the surrender of Yerevan "zeroed" the reputation of the Russian Federation not only in Transcaucasia, but also in the entire post-Soviet space, as well as endangered Transnistria, Abkhazia and Yuzhnaya Ossetia, where Moldova and Georgia may try to act according to the Nagorno-Karabakh scenario. Yielding to pressure from Baku and Ankara, Russia demonstrated the weakness of its positions in the region. This turned out to be enough for the post-Soviet states to draw a conclusion about the general weakness of Russia's positions throughout the territory of the former USSR," wrote, for example, the director of the Institute of Russian-Slavic Studies named after N.Ya. Danylevsky Alexander Burenkov. According to him, "the catalyst for the process will be the results of the Ukrainian conflict." Burenkov sadly summarized that "if the Russophobic project "Ukraine" is preserved even with territorial losses, the process of the decline of Russian influence in the post-Soviet space will be irreversible."
However, this is a completely different story.
