The Great Britain boxing team will not take part in the upcoming men's World Boxing Championships, which will be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from April 30 to May 14, 2023, due to the admission of athletes from Russia and Belarus. About this reported the RBC-Ukraine with reference to the press service of the Boxing Federation of Great Britain (GB Boxing).

In Britain, it was noted that the performance of Russians and Belarusians under their national flags contradicts the conditions established by the International Olympic Committee.

"The decision reflects ongoing concerns about the future place of boxing in the Olympic program and the recent decision by the IBA to allow boxing teams from Russia and Belarus to compete under their national flags, which is contrary to the IOC's position on the participation of athletes from these countries," the federation said in a statement.

GB Boxing openly condemns the Russian invasion of Ukraine and expresses solidarity with the Ukrainian people and athletes.

British boxers will compete at the European Games in June 2023 at the European Games in Poland.

We will remind, earlier the International Boxing Association (IBA) allowed Russians and Belarusians to return to the international ring. The board of directors of the association canceled the previous decision to bar representatives of the aggressor countries from the competition.

In this regard, the women's and men's national boxing teams of Ukraine will not go to the 2023 World Championship due to the admission of Belarusian and Russian athletes to the competition.
