Turkey will supply Bulgaria with about 1,5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per hour. A cooperation agreement was signed today by the Bulgarian state gas supplier Bulgargaz and the state Turkish gas company Botas, reports BILD.

"Bulgaria gets the opportunity to buy natural gas from all world producers and unload it in Turkey. It is very convenient for us, because thanks to the agreement, the problem with the lack of infrastructure for unloading liquefied gas has been solved," Bulgarian Acting Minister of Energy Rosen Hristov, who was present at the signing of the agreement together with his Turkish colleague, told journalists.

If before the war in Ukraine, Bulgaria was almost completely dependent on Russian natural gas, then according to the new 13-year agreement, Bulgargaz will be able to receive gas through Turkish LNG terminals and the Turkish Botas gas network.

As a reminder, today, a gas terminal in Germany received the first batch of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the USA. The tanker Maria Energy arrived in the port of Wilhelmshaven on the North Sea, where the liquefied gas will be converted back into a gaseous state at a special floating terminal opened in December by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

We will also remind you that back in October, the European Union announced its independence from the supply of natural gas from Russia.
