With a delay of two months, the Biden administration presented to Congress a further vision of actions regarding the war in Ukraine. The failure of the deadline disappointed some lawmakers, who now do not rule out blocking the aid dw.com.

The administration of US President Joe Biden sent Congress

a classified report on its strategy for the war in Ukraine, Reuters reported on Tuesday, September 10, citing three sources.

This is a document, the requirement for the preparation of which was included in the package bill on providing 60 billion dollars of aid to Ukraine, which was adopted in April after half a year of disputes. The deadline for submitting the report was back in June.

As Reuters writes, the agency received confirmation of the report from an unnamed congressman's aide and two anonymous interlocutors. According to the aide, the long-awaited report was sent to lawmakers on September 9, but they have not yet had a chance to read it. The White House did not respond to a request for comment.

The delay in providing a report with a follow-up strategy, the agency said, has frustrated some members of Congress, so they are considering blocking further funding for Ukraine.

The head of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Jim Risch, commented on the situation with the report in August and said that he supports Ukraine, but "not blindly."

"Since the first days of Putin's war against Ukraine, we have asked the Biden-Harris administration to submit a strategy for how the US and its allies can help Ukraine win. When they did not respond to our requests, we legally obliged them to send the strategy to Congress, but the deadline passed and there is no response," the politician said in August.
