You can learn a lot about someone's emotions and intentions by looking at their body language, if you know what to look for. Businessinsider I have collected some tips in the form of a diagram below to help you better understand what people are really saying to you.

body language-1

Reading body language is, of course, not an exact science, so here's some additional context as a hint to the diagram above:

1. Anxiety, surprise or fear can make people raise their eyebrows in a state of discomfort. So, if someone praises your new hairstyle or clothes with raised eyebrows, then the person may not be completely sincere.

2. Whether you know it or not, your vocal range shows your interest. "As soon as the conversation begins, the "intoxicated" women slide into high octaves of their voices," he reports Psychology Today, "while men lower their octave".

3. When you look into someone's eyes, a state of excitement is established in the body. A cross-eyed stranger can cause fear, while a lover's gaze can spark romance.

4. In an attempt to avoid the gaze of running eyes, some liars purposefully concentrate their gaze for too long, so that it is a little uncomfortable.

5. Psychologically, crossed legs signal that people are mentally, emotionally and physically closed, and this may mean that they are less likely to move from their place in negotiations.

6. When two people get along and feel connected, their postures and movements reflect each other.

7. A smile is all about the wrinkles around your eyes. When you smile joyfully, they crumple. When you fake it, it doesn't happen.

8. Someone who is receptive to your humor is more likely to be interested in you. Laughter serves as a way to signal the desire for a relationship, be it platonic or romantic.

9. They include maintaining an elongated vertical position, purposeful walking, hand positions connecting the tips of the fingers, hand gestures with the palms down, and usually occupy open and wide body positions.

10. A shaking leg can signal anxiety and irritation.
